We were advised by some friends, locals from Bermeo to visit this place, as it has amazing views. You have to schedule with a week of anticipation the tickets, they are free. We hit Gaztelugatxe on our way out of Bilbao and so glad we did! It is a splendid journet and I truly recommend!

Not a good hike with a stroller. The steep path mentioned in previous reviews has been renovated and covered in stone, so it shouldn't be a muddy mess anymore! It's only 30 minutes' walk from the top of the cliff to the hermitage itself (you'll need to find parking but that's well sign-posted), but quite a haul, as it's a steep zig-zag path and best attempted with decent shoes. As is always the case, you'll see quite a few with flip-flops attempting this - best avoided.
